A Rose for Mint

Welllllll, I'll bet this was the LAST thing you guys would expect from me! I mean, not anime-esque, not even my own style really, only black and white INTENTIONALLY, not even a cat! Nope, like nothing I've done before--well, nothing I've done before that hasn't been an assignment. (And even that one was a tiger.)

Still, with all the "first-time"-i-ness of this thing--I'm pretty pleased with how it came out. It's still a little rough around the edges in the sense that, like I said, it is a first try, and the flower head itself is very heavily referenced from some random picture on google. 

As for the story behind it, well, when I finish, you'll all just have to read AS to find out! All I'll let you know now is that it's a birthday gift from Umbra to Mint. And while Umbra gets credited with this piece in-universe, the way she makes it could be considered "cheating", so to say... I'll force myself to hold my tongue for now. I just really enjoyed getting to try something so outside of what I normally do, and hey, if it works, it works! On the list of things to improve for the actual comic though? The dew-drops. They are nowhere near as noticeable as I'd hoped they'd be. Gotta work on that.

Anyway, since this is actually a work of ART, and not just some random doodle, I figured I'd let you all in on it! And I am working on things--unfortunately at the moment, they're mostly WRITING things, so I don't have as much to share with you all as I'd like.
